is situated somewhere between
Journal (academic) and journal (personal); it values friction, care, contradiction, and questions over polished outcomes.

is a publication platform for those working across and beyond biodesign - practitioners, academics, independent researchers, students, artists, DIY experimenters, and the curious. A quarterly, print-only magazine which engages in the critical conversations of those who are shaping the future of living systems with care, ethics, and creativity. FW was created to bridge the fragmented, often disconnected worlds of academic research, grassroots experimentation, speculative design, and collective inquiry.
FERAL WORLDING

OUR MISSION
we’re a platform serving ideas, passions, and potentials not accolades. FW priorities including untraditional voices for the field of biodesign. everyone shaping the future of living systems should be heard with ubiquitous equity.
AMPLIFY UNDER-HEARD VOICES
BRIDGE COMMUNITIES
blending rigorous thinking with hands-on experimentation, we foster dialogue across universities, wet/open labs, bio-hackers, community ecologists, speculative designers, urban planners, botanists, and indigenous communities, replicating nature’s interspecies necessary interrelations.
SUSTAIN CRITICAL CONVERSATIONS
biodesign is not just the "cool stuff” and sci-fi fantasies. We explore the field as one of deep care, ethical complexity, situated failures, and transformative potential. this is all-the-more critical in current days when the nature of the field is at risk of being co-opted for clout and greenwashing. we are committed to maintain inclusive dialogue helmed by feminist practices and decolonialism.
REMAIN FLUID & OPEN
FW embraces serendipity. Each issue leaves room for reader-driven content, unexpected formats, and rapid responses to emerging questions. not pretending to know all the fields array of forefronts, there is unrestricted potential as to what brilliant, feral contributions may arrive next.
